Internet Explorer 6 for Windows

  1. From the Desktop, Double Click on the Internet Explorer icon.

  1. If you click on Tools, then Internet Options a screen like below should appear.

 

From here you can change different items related to Internet Explorer.  From the General tab you can change your Homepage, the amount of days of history to keep, and your temporary internet files settings.  If you click on the connection tab which is shown, the click on the Lan Settings button, ensure no check marks appear.  Then click ok.  Also in the connections ensure the dialup settings say never dialup.  If all else fails you can click on the Internet Connection Wizard.   No other settings are required.  You should be able to surf.

If you experience problems with Internet Explorer 6 you can utilize the tool that Microsoft has been including in Internet Explorer since version 5.  If you go to the Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs-> Internet Explorer , Double click on it a screen like below should appear:

Here you can repair Internet Explorer or restore back to the previous version prior to Internet Explorer 6.  Please note that Windows XP users have no previous version and most likely will only be able to repair.
